-> Bodegas Morca
Bodegas Morca is based in Campo de Borja, an area known for producing intense, fruity and dark wines. Touran is the flagship of the range, but fortunately there are other options if you find it a little too ambitious. In fact, I think Godina is almost as good as Touran, and when value for money is taken into consideration, it is a significantly better buy.
In the 2023 vintage, it achieves a lovely balance between richness, dark fruit and a spicy warmth that feels completely natural. This is a wine that rests comfortably in its own intensity, offering generous amounts of dark fruit and spice without becoming heavy.
The complexity has been turned down a little compared with Touran, and that is actually no disadvantage. It makes this a wine you can enjoy without having to spend hours contemplating how all the individual elements fit together. Where Touran is a weighty, abstract and rare work of art, Godina is a more accessible picture, allowing you to enjoy its impressions in a more uncomplicated way.
And it still works extremely well. This is a wine perfectly suited to anyone looking for pronounced richness and dark berries while still wanting some breathing space between each sip. It works beautifully with spicy grilled dishes in summer or slow-cooked winter casseroles, where the wine’s herbal nuances create a delicious connection with the pleasures on the table.
Godina 2023 leaves an impression of richness, warmth and dark fruit. It is an easy wine to like, delivering an intense and spicy style with far more to offer than its price level would suggest.
